Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate
What this is
Under the federal No Surprises Act, if you do not have insurance or you choose not to use your insurance for care at True Chiropractic San Diego, you have the right to receive a written estimate of what your care is expected to cost before you receive it. This is called a Good Faith Estimate.
What the estimate includes
The estimate lists the expected charges for the visit or course of care you are scheduling — for example the examination, any imaging we perform on site, and treatment sessions — along with the codes we use to describe them. It does not include unexpected costs that may arise if your needs change; if that happens, we will talk with you and update the estimate.
When you receive it
- If you schedule at least 3 business days ahead, we will give you the estimate at least 1 business day before your visit.
- If you schedule at least 10 business days ahead, we will give you the estimate at least 3 business days before your visit.
- You can also ask for an estimate at any time before scheduling, and we will provide it within 3 business days.
If your bill is higher than the estimate
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute it through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process. You must start the dispute within 120 calendar days of the date on the bill. Information about the process and the current fee is available at https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises or by calling 1-800-985-3059.
Keep your copy
Save your Good Faith Estimate with your other records. You will need it if you ever want to dispute a bill.
